Food & Spices
Chanaka’s personality is revealed in his rich, creative dishes. They reflect his curiosity for all cuisines and his love of herbs and spices: cinnamon, turmeric, cardamom, pepper, curry, nutmeg...priceless assets for both palates and health. Chanaka gets busy in the kitchen one or two evenings per week for guests. When he’s in the kitchen we strongly advise food lovers to stay in!
Meticulously selected produce
"Dishes celebrating the ocean - fresh and tasty… with a lingering aroma of spices".
Every morning the beach 200 metres from La Maison Nil Manel is replete with fishing nets. His great relationship with the fishermen of Ahungalla means that this particular native gets his pick of luscious crabs, lobsters and shrimps. Bananas, mangoes and pineapples are plucked straight from the gardens at Mirala Duwa, whereas seasonal aubergines, tomatoes, cabbages and strawberries are picked from the fertile terraces at Nuwara Eliya.
Gourmet meals
Breakfast is freshness in a nutshell: buffalo milk curd drizzled with Kitul syrup, garden fresh fruit and fruit juice, pancakes flipped while you wait. More traditional tastes are catered for too with toast, jam, omelettes and scrambled eggs....
Lunch: there is a menu of sweet and savoury snacks served in the garden or poolside to satisfy any rumblings.
Dinner is served once or twice a week depending on the arrival of guests. You will receive recommendations by La Maison Nil Manel for other dining options within 400 metres of the villa, some of which are accessible via the beach.
