Tropical gardens
Ceylon ebony, ficus, flame trees, rubber trees and palm trees… a flurry of exotic species of trees indicate the entrance to the tropical gardens. Wild flowers and orchids, parrot beak plants, palm fronds, birdsong and the gentle lapping of water… you feel a sense of contentment when you soak up the sight of abundant greenery occasionally jostled by curious monkeys and little house squirrels (lenas), quivering their tufty tails as they leap one tree to another. Everything is poetic and enchanting here.
